Why I decided to create a charity arm of my business.
Action takes Action is a project that has long been on my heart. As director of Action Dance Academy, I have always felt it was my calling to not only educate my students in the techniques of dance, but to provide a place for them where they can build confidence, a strong character and feel nurtured in a loving and safe environment. I feel I have been successful in my mission with many students referring to Action Dance Academy as ‘a second home’.
My heart is that the strong and supportive community we have built up here at Action Dance Academy can extend an arm to those with a greater need and make a difference in the lives of people in our local community that perhaps don’t have the same opportunities and safe place to land.
Our Charity Partner for 2018
This year we partnered with the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women’s Shelter to raise $1800 for women in our local community suffering from homelessness and domestic violence.
The mission of the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women’s Shelter struck a cord with me as I was confronted with the reality that not everyone is blessed with the same fortune as we can bestow upon our families and children. I felt compelled to bring to light to the fact that there are many women in our local community who are living in homelessness and poverty, often due to circumstances beyond their control. Part of the mission of the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women’s Shelter is to empower women in crisis through accommodation, education, emotional and physical support and disability support, to create a better future.
