What are troupe classes?
Troupe classes are our representative teams for selected students who are ready to move beyond a recreational level. Our troupe program is purposefully designed so that students receive well rounded technique and training of the highest quality. Much like any other representative sporting team we have high expectations for troupe students to make a commitment to their team and be in class and present at every eisteddfod during the year.
Troupe sets up dancers up to move into the professional performing arts industry and our culture has been established in a supportive and nurturing environment for all dancers to succeed and reach their full potential.
How do you join troupe?
All Troupe students are selected annually via invitation by our teaching staff according to a set of criteria. Troupe students are required to display the following attributes:
Exceptional technique for their age group and strong musicality
Ability to pick up choreography quickly and comprehend complex sequences
High range of flexibility, strength of movement in arm and leg lines
Strong body awareness and coordination
Demonstration of sound body isolation and alignment
Willingness to improve & grow with a good attitude to learning & commitment
Ability to apply teacher’s corrections
Confident performance quality and well developed stage presence
Students who have been selected will receive an invitation to join in December of each year. Troupe positions are re assessed each year and selection will be reviewed annually as students develop at different rates. Moving up an age group in troupe requires dancers to be ready for the next level of expectations.
What are the commitments for troupe students?
Troupe students compete at an elite level and therefore need to train hard to be competitive. There are minimum class requirements for troupe students which differ depending on age and style of dance. These different commitments are outlined under each tab below for your child’s age group. Many of our troupe students choose to dance 6 hours plus per week.
For those serious dancers we have created the ULTIMATE DANCER PACKAGE which allows a student to do unlimited classes for a set price of $105 per week or $115 (including singing).

What are eisteddfods and the expectations for competitions?
Eisteddfods are dance competitions. Students perform a routine and compete against other dance studios. Depending on the age and readiness of each troupe class students will be required to compete in anywhere between 3 - 5 eisteddfods during the year. These eisteddfods occur on either Saturdays and/or Sundays usually during term 2 and 3. Notice of these dates and times are confirmed via email as details are received from eisteddfod committees.
Commitment in class each week is essential and we expect that troupe students will attend every eisteddfod. If students miss classes prior to an eisteddfod or are unsure of any choreography, they may not be eligible to perform, at the teacher’s discretion.
