Why do we have annual concerts?
At Action Dance Academy we take great pride in presenting annual concerts which focus on both performance and entertainment. We are extremely pleased to receive wonderful feedback each year from families who appreciate the high level of professionalism in the shows we present. Our concerts are our most anticipated event and a highlight of the year & give our students the opportunity to showcase everything that they have been working towards all year. We ensure the entire experience is a joy for students and families.
How many concerts are there and how are they split?
With so many wonderful classes on offer at Action Dance Academy it is necessary for us to divide our students into different shows in order to ensure seating capacity for all guests and keep each show to an appropriate length.
This year we are dividing into 6 different concerts by age group and location. Students will only be required to dance in 1 concert with the exception of troupes and combined age group classes, which may be invited to dance at multiple shows. If you are unsure of which concert your child’s class is in please click the button above to view our spreadsheet.
What are the costume, hair & make-up requirements?
For your convenience we have created a costume checklist for each concert. This checklist will itemise each costume, the accessories, tights and hair style that is required for your dance. These checklists can be found under your concert age group tab.
COSTUMES
Your child will receive their costume in class. Please do NOT wash or wear any costumes before the concert. Costumes cannot be replaced if lost or damaged so please take care with all items and only wear for the concert. Please make sure ALL costumes and accessories are labelled with your child’s name. After the concert if you need to wash your costumes, we would suggest that it be hand washed in cold water only. Do not soak or use any harsh detergents.
UNDERWEAR AND JEWELERY
Please ensure that all underwear is not visible underneath your child’s costume. Where possible, we recommend flesh or skin toned underwear which we now have available to purchase from our online store. Alternatively underwear the same colour as your child’s costume.
Please note, no jewellery is to be worn on stage e.g. earrings, watches, necklaces, bracelets ect. Please leave all jewellery and valuables at home as the staff backstage will NOT take responsibility for any lost items.
TIGHTS
Please visit our online store to purchase either matte tan or ballet tights if required. Please refer to your costume check list (under your concert tab) as to what tights your child may require for their dance.
MAKE UP
Stage lighting makes faces appear washed out, students are to wear the following make-up; foundation, blush, eyeshadow (brown, gold, bronze), eye liner, mascara & red lipstick (bright red). Please watch the tutorial for make-up tips.
What about Boys?
Boys do not have to wear make-up however powder and blush is a good option if they wish to.
What about Pre Schoolers?
Make up is optional for our pre schoolers. We are all about children being children, it is not our aim to make them appear too grown up. The reason we suggest stage makeup is the lights on stage have a tendency to wash out little faces, especially in videos and photos which will be taken on the day. The choice of whether or not to wear make up and the amount is completely at each parents discretion.

Does my child need food backstage?
It is not a requirement to send your child with food, the best option is to feed them just before you drop them off. However, If you wish to pack your child some light snacks please do not send along any messy foods or coloured drinks. Please do not pack any food that contain nuts. We would ask that all students wear a jacket or dressing gown over their costume to eat and drink.
Am I allowed to film the concert?
NO! For child protection reasons we do not allow parents to film any part of the concert. However, we do have a professional Videographer and Photographer who will capture entire concert and all families will receive a Digital Download of ALL concerts.
